Once again this year the hardy souls will flock to Southwold beach on christmas morning for the annual dip into the 'warm' north sea.
All in a good cause, as charities will be the winner.

Southwold to conduct Flood Survey |
|
Southwold Town Council are to fund a survey looking at the possibility of coastal flooding by use of laser technology. It is believed that this will be around the Blyth estuary, with the council to look at the results once known.

Traders Unhappy at Southwold |

Traders in Southwold are petitioning against a proposed development in Reydon which they believe could damage their own businesses in Southwold.
The development on the
Reydon Business Park, which is designed for affordable housing does include a possible Waitrose supermarket, and thats where a protest has been sparked.
The people of Reydon it is believed would possibly favour the supermarket.

The Waveney PCT trust has decided that some urgent maintenance work at Southwold hospital will now be completed, along with work at Beccles War Memorial Hospital.

The long running coastal protection work has been completed. Southwold's renowned beach is fully open to the public. The work costing in the region of £8million is designed to protection hundreds of homes in Southwold and Reydon, which could in time be threatened by flooding and coastal erosion.

A recent report claims that the Beach at Southwold is better than a number of beaches in Spain.
A study carried out by Coast magazine, praises Southwold as a “quintessentially British” experience, it rates Southwold better than a selection of Spanish beaches.

NO Southwold Railway |
|
All remaining hopes of the reviving of a heritage railway line between Southwold and Henham have been rejected by planners.
The plans which included a narrow gauge railway were unanimously refused at quite heated Waveney District Council planning meeting held in Beccles.
